Does anyone know what I would have to do to my 7M to have it replicate the Turbo A stats?
I am doing a swap regardless, but I'm contemplating inbetween the 1JZ-GTE VVT-i, 2JZ-GTE, 7M-GTE"U", and the 1UZ-FETT[SC?] :3d_frown:

Whatever gets the most votes wins, so vote and keep an eye out for the build thread. :icon_surp

Turbo A= different 3000 pipe(larger bore and different design) different throttle body(larger bore) runs Map not Maf So no AFM,i think the turbo is slightly larger too (not 100% sure on that). unique body graphics and rear badge, anthracite colored saw blades,

Oh and right hand drive.:naughty:

You would have to find the different parts listed above... (good luck)

There were only a few differences

Stick with the 7m.

Forgot to ask: is there a reason one of your options isnt a 1jzgte (non vvt-i)?

Realistically it's what I might end up with, I just didn't like what I heard about it's stock low end performance. :3d_frown:

And Neo- my 7M is an N/A with 225 on it :1zhelp:

Why the fascination with 20+ year old technology?

If you built a Group A replica it would make sense.

I've got a 20 yr old budget :)

So a Geo Metro and 2 minute noodles?

Sure, if I can put 42 PSI through the T66 with no compression in pistons 1 and 3 I'll rock the MSG noodles :3d_frown:

In all seriousness a 2JZ-GE NaT makes a lot of sense in your position, might want to consider that an option.

In all seriousness a 2GZ-GE NaT makes a lot of sense in your position, might want to consider that an option.

I had that priced out as follows

2JZ-GE-$999 + Shipping
'86-'89 1JZ/2JZ swap motor mount brackets - $149
'86-'88 solid motor mounts- $120
1JZ/2JZ to W58 Bell Housing- $335
1JZ/2JZ W58 Flywheel- $275
ARP 1JZ Flywheel Bolts- $30
ACT Stage 4 W58 Clutch Kit - $470
W58 Transmission Rebuild Kit-$210
GREDDY Speed Cut Defender for 1JZ/2JZ- $75
2JZ-GE Complete Engine Gasket Set-$295
Total = $2958

It really does seem pretty good, but I know that setup needs some tweaks. Care to bring it into proportion lol?

The beauty of it is it'll run fine on the 7M electronics until you can afford management down the track so makes a good bare bones type swap.

The other choices will need a big investment in time/cash to make run at all.

My 7M harness is on its way out :/
So I'll grab another one get it fused, and throw in a 2JZ, seems logical.

Why would he want a V12 that's nearly impossible to find?

ooooooooohhhhh, you meant 2JZ-GE, not 2GZ-FE.

I wonder if that guy putting the 2GZ into the MkII ever finished...

To add in my opinion on the topic, follow the road most travelled with a JZ swap if you're not electrically inclined. Almost every aspect of the swap is well documented, so it's not rocket science. Otherwise, roll the dice with a 7M build.

Going with a twin turbo 1UZ will involve a rediculous amount of custom fab, alot of headaches, set backs, and creativity. A 7M build or JZ swap will only have alot of these things...

Time to troll the FS section for a 2JZ complete long block xD

EDIT: The poll results are incorrect, it seems to have mistaken IJ's vote to have a value equal to "One"

Ok, find me a 7M-GTEU with an R154 and an ECU and harness and I'll do it. :icon_surp

All 7M's are 7MGTEu's. Just putting that out there.

Look on the firewall of an JDM Ma70 the engine code for all of them is 7M-GTEu

Ah ok good to know, just curious could i run a 2JZ-GTE the same way I would run a GE NA-T?

I wouldn't call it a turbo-A replica without the turbo-A features on a regular mk3, right?

If the features are there it still wont be a legit Turbo A but itll be as close as you can get. If you wanna get real close. need a hardtop MK3 manufactured between August 88 and November 88. Turbo A's were manufactured in September or October i cant remember exactly. Youll need one with gray leather interior. And paint the car black. Bilstein shocks, and TT-R springs (Same thing as the turbo A springs) powder coat the sawblades black. a map based fuel management system. make the throttle body larger somehow, larger 3000 pipe and shave off the "3000". Bigger turbo. the Turbo A intercooler is bigger dunno how youd go about that. Cams are different to my understanding. (Can someone verify). Folding Mirrors (LHD Euros), JDM/Euro foglamps. Decals, and emblems. Momo steering wheel, and shift knob. Then id think youd have something as close to a turbo A as you can get.
