Pending pictures... I'll take a set of 89+ Body Trim. Also looking at your interior trim pieces (instrument cluster and radio surround). You may also want to look at making CF door sills and a replacement sheet of CF for the passenger side vent.

I have been slowly "working" on my CF trim, but if they are made with decent fit/finish and price I would rather just buy a set.

I would be ALL over pre '89 trim! That makes two customers for sure.
Edit: and you should make a rear center CF trim piece to replace the '89+ for those of us who want pre '89 trim w/ '89+ tails. That would be absolutely killer.

we are working right now on the stereo / ac surround.
would anybody want a straight OEM replacement??
i mean with double din radio opening and A/C controls..
i personally would like to see a single din radio opening
and 3 gauge pods in there angled towards the driver.
let me know, Paulo.

The door skins aren't heavy. It's the innards that carry all the weight. Ask slow66, he has some gutted doors- I bet they're about 6lbs, if not less.

No straight OEM for me. I prefer to have the A/C controls moved to under the stereo in the double din slot, and 60mm angled bezel incorporated into the old a/c control location.
So it would be like this:
3 gauges (60mm) in A/C location
Stereo
A/C controls
bhmsupra
08-26-2009, 01:13 PM
Either way for me would be fine. I personally would like to keep my AC as is, single din and then the 3 guage pod underneah. Angled woud be sick man, just sick.

just did some messuring, to put 60 mm pods comfortably where the a/c controls are the ashtray needs to go, i think even some electronics could go there. Personally I dont care much for it but lets hear what you guys think about it.

89+ is prefect for me as I have a 92 in regards to body pieces, the cf single din radio with gauges below sounds interesting but I'm more for a cover piece so I can mount whatever I choose.
a ash tray cover piece would be great for a mounting spot for aftermarket components.
how about glove box set up for gauges and such. theres a old pic roaming around for rhd setups but I cant find it to use as reference.

I don't smoke, so the ashtray has always been empty in my car. Whatever is needed to make three 60mm gauges angled toward the driver is what I'm interested in.

That's so far away to look. I'm not saying it wouldn't look cool, but the functionality of that is next to zero. If the gauges aren't within a super fast glance, they don't belong.
Glove box setup for stuff like the maft pro would be cool, though.

I completely agree with you. I like gauges in eye slight, if I have to look to the 3 o clock postion then theres a issue. I'm just tossing ideas out as I want to build or buy something to get rid of the open gap I have below the radio and make better use of the glove box as all it carries is insurence papers and registration.. maybe a few other things but overall theres room for something else.

thats why i mentioned a dual 52mm pod integrated into the steering column cover, very visible spot. you would just need a matching CF lower cover :)

I'm in for the moldings, smooth 89+ with the center taillight section. Also I think I would want the radio surround to be just the single din without any gauges but to include AC and ashtray. Also what about making the switch panel on the left side of the steering wheel, with options as to how many switches, to sell along with the radio bezel. That way you would have the same material on either side of the wheel.....

oh yeah, the vent panel above the glove box is one of those that I would definitely be in for, mine looks like crap.

oops guess I didn't see that part. I would like one with the dimmer roller under and only one switch position (preferably closer to the steering wheel), I did away with the other two switches. If not then maybe some blank inserts that would fill the holes, kinda like the blank oem inserts?
I'm interested in the 89+ body molds and also door sills.
You mention an instrument cluster in the works? Would that be like a custom cover for people who remove the stock gauge cluster? This is the route I'm thinking about taking for my car so I'd be interested in more details.

we are making a CF version of the stock plastic one, well probably make one
that accommodates after market gauges in the location of the OEM ones.

How about a glove box cover panel. By that I mean a panel that would cover the hole left if you take out the glove box. This would be great for guys that have a aem ecu or such. No need to find a way to stuff your wires and ecu if you just have a cover.

keep in mind there are two switch panels...

the former has the dimmer on the bottom; the latter in one of the slots and is less tall..
here are the orientations, incase anyone is interested..

87/88: foglight switch, cruise activation switch, rear defroster, coin holder
89: foglight switch, coin holder, rear defroster, coin holder

Everyone has a request on pre-89 or 89+ moldings. As long as you include that center section people will buy either or I don't think they are that picky.
Personally I think flat > not flat. So pre-89 is better looking... however I'd rock both.

completely useless and utterly pointless as a decorative item..
HOWEVER, it is a great idea to use the strength of cf for that piece, as they get very brittle with age and break off very easily..

As easy as tearing the old shitty ones off and popping the new ones in place, iirc there are two additional holes that need to be drilled in the back for the new moldings but that's no biggy. It would look a bit odd though if you didn't swap out the tail lights as well at the moldings are attached to that center piece.

i'd get it just to be ready for when i need it :P i agree with the steering wheel gauge pod "dual" and i like the carbon fiber overlay to. i've never seen CF personally so i dont know how thick it is. but since i know CF targa will be brought up sooner or later, maybe just make a CF overlay for that to that can just wrap around the edges? and trim to hold it on with some glue or something on the underside. the only reason i say this is because everyone seems to say that a CF targa would break easy or something like that. CF door panels would be sweet, i think CFX did that. and CF rear trim would be cool to but completely for cosmetic reasons

There were a limited number of Turbo-A Supras sold that had better performance, and other goodies, but they also had an additional duct (mounted in the bumper where your license plate goes) for more intercooler/radiator cooling air flow. See 92NSX's build thread for pictures.

You have got to make one for pre 89.......
Still waiting for price quote for RED CF I listed. Just how much more on top of the reg price CF to make it custom red CF? I got the door sills from Ebay and it's not bad.

O and one other part, a CF CPS cover, that would be easy to make!:naughty:
i made one..two actually...ill get pics..of course, i dont plan on mass producing them since i make them by hand
also, im making door sills, thought about making b pillars but thought they may look "ricey" but thats just my opinion. once again, im not mass producing, pretty much just making them for a few people in my area
oh, and im not trying to take away from the retro-spec business, as a matter of fact im sure he can do it cheaper than me
other ideas(may have already been done or mentioned) a glove box panel to mount electronics (piggy back systems) just to make it clean and not have to hack up the dash

NOT cool to post like this in a vendors thread.
well as i said, i am not trying to take anything from the vendor. merely saying that it can and has been done. and with this vendors knowledge and material availability he should easily be able to mass produce a good product for everyone to enjoy

Perfect part would be a MKIII carbon (and FG) hood with a raised cowl. Unless you cut up and weld your stock hood, you cant get this anywhere and I would pick up a FG unit (not a fan of CF too much) when I get some stable cash flow.

There would be little to no weight savings with FG fiberglass front fenders. Just posting that as a FYI.
Now flared front fenders...

Seeing as it's an big item to design and create, maybe you should setup a group buy. That way you can actually have people put in some or all of the money to make sure that there actually are 'buyers' for the hood. Personally I have no interest in the a raised cowl hood. If you decide to make a Stout style hood however, I'd definitely be in.

So we would cut our own gauge holes? Guess the ass tray is going to be on all. The lighter I can modify for a small gauge. Is the bottom pic the mold or is a fiberglass avail?
Either way this looks amazing. I am no doubt going to have this on my list.

Clearly. Thanks for a prompt reply. Simply did to itself and has faced that the mechanics to make more difficult, and to find as someone does could not. The mechanics on my gas door is almost ready, it was necessary to lower weight to do from termo plasticity PBT GF30, otherwise manufacturing of such detail in general loses meaning)

I personally would have preferred the center console had the ash tray been removed, and the cig lighter cut out for a gauge, and the other gauges inline with it, but it honestly does look good, I might consider a FG version, and plastidip it...
