First let me say this, what you see below is a half finished project. I had originally planned to include wiring for both MKIV/Aristo 2JZ-GTE's in to both the pre and post 89 chassis. But I never reached a point where I felt comfortable with the way the info was edited and presented. I wanted something that was easy to read and understand by someone with a little electrical knowledge. After several failed attempts I shelved the project till later. What you see below is essentially scraps put together from one of my better attempts. It could be better but if I don't put it out here now, it may never be. What follows is the culmination of countless hours picking through the info on arnout's site supras.nl, much time in between the pages of an 89TSRM, a 87 Supra EWD, 95 TSRM, and a 93 GS300 EWD.

I would also like to state that this information is presented here for research purposes. My recommendation, for a well built fully functioning swap harness is to contact drtweak and get one from him.

This is for swapping a 1st gen Aristo 2JZ-GTE into a pre89 MKIII

How to read: The first part deals with the connectors that are present and their associated pinouts. So you know what they do and can decide if you want to keep them. For example pin 6 thru 8 on Connector 'C' deals with the traction control and can be deleted.

The second section titled 'Connections' deals with the the hybrid connections that need to be made between the 2JZ harness and the MKIII harness. Three connectors from the 7M main engine harness are required to be spliced in to the 2JZ harness.

Appendix



Connector ‘B’ is located at the R154 transmission and is used for the reverse light switch,
and is transplanted for this swap.



Fuel Pump Relay
To activate the relay the 7M TCCS normally grounds pin 6 of connector B1 when the ECU see an RPM signal. This is a safety feature so the fuel pump will stop if the engine stops, if something like an accident were to happen. The 2JZ ECU does not do this and has a separate computer to accomplish this task. At the moment I’m not sure how to swap that computer over. So unfortunately the simplest solution is to physically ground the wire from B1 pin 6. This allows the fuel pump relay to kick on whenever the ignition switch is turned on. However this disables the rpm triggered safety feature. Hopefully I’ll come up with a better solution in the near future.



E9 Connector
Due to the limited pins that have to be messed with on this connector I decided to leave the pin out off the main pin out. Simply reference the pin numbers from above.

You should have two connectors on your Aristo ECU a larger one that has two parts and a screw in the middle, and a smaller one. If your ECU is missing either of these plugs then yes you will need to source one.

The AC in the MK3 does not run off the computer, nor would it need to be controlled by the computer.

Look at the pinout for the 7M computer for your year of Supra. The A/C is just to let the computer know to bump up the idle when the A/C is one, that's all.

The A/C system is controlled by a little black box located right by the computer and I believe it is called the A/C amplifier but I am not to sure on that. I was worried about going standalone and not having the A/C work but on my 1JZ, it works fine.

Which means, just take the wire that signals for idle up to the 7M computer(use the pinout) and put it to the corresponding pin for the Aristo computer that is responsible for idle up.

IBoughtASupra is correct, and the system will work fine that way. It's the way it was designed to work with the 7M. Like the pinout says, connect pin 13 of B1 to pin 34 of E10.

However, the 2JZ ECU has the ability to deactivate the A/C clutch under full throttle conditions so that no power is parasitically being drawn off buy the A/C system at that time. And there is a way to wire that feature in to the MKIII, but I wanted to test it first, to be sure, before I put the information out there. Unless somebody else has done it and can comment on it.

Until then I would just connect it the way shown in the pinout above.

Ok but when I cut the aristo body plug it has the three wire that run to the a/c on it g (aircon sg for lockin)b and w (aircon clutch signal)and r and g (aircon Lock in signal). So basically the a/c has no wire hooked up. Where do those wires go?

Now, which A/C compressor do you have on there the 7M one or the Ariso one with the 7M head?


If its the Aristo one, you actually only need one of those wires. The B-W coming from connector 'C' pin 5. the other two are not used on the MKIII A/C system.
And it needs to be connected to the single wire that originally went to the 7M A/C clutch( L ), located on the driver side fender.

If you used the 7M compressor then just connect the one wire to it like before and its ready to go, no need to deal with the three wire from the Aristo A/C system.

PPs and abs you simply take the wiring out of the 7m harness and insert it into the jz harness. No soldering or cutting needed.

Yes on the first part and no on the second, but you're close. It's a single pin female connector with two blue wires going into it. It should be near there.

On a separate note what Injectors clips do aristos use? I have seen f1 and f2 clips both are for 2jzgte

I'm not familiar with f1 or f2, however it does uses two different connectors, but the only difference is color, one is grey and one is brown. And Toyota only offers the grey one now.

The part numbers are:
90980-11154
90980-11284

I'm not sure which one is still active, but if you go into Toyota they can tell you which one still exists in their system.

Hey guys, I've searched and searched and I think I have my answer but I just want to make sure before I buy...

I am doing a 2JZ NA-T swap into an MK3 bought an engine without a harness for cheap (not sure what it came out of). I'm looking for a harness now. Will a harness off a 94 GS300 work?

Just read all through this thread and found it all VERY confusing !! (despite my having a degree in Electronics)

I'm planning to put a 2JZ-GE from a Mk4 Supra (with its ECU) to replace my 7M-GE in my 1991 Mk3 Supra.

Can someone answer a few basic questions for me? (Bear in mind I haven't looked at EITHER ECUs yet)

How many connectors are there on the end of the Mk4 2JZ-GE Engine Loom? Do they ALL just plug into the Mk4 ECU?

Is there just ONE other socket on the Mk4 ECU that interfaces with the body? (ie all the other non-engine things, like power, feed to dash gauges, fuel pump, etc)

To interface those "body" wires with the Mk3, it seems to me it would be MUCH easier to just come up with a Cut & Splice list of wires, ie a Table that has the wire colors FROM the Mk4 ECU and the colours TO the Mk3 body (that presumably came out of the old 7M ECU) that need to be connected together.

This would surely make the job MUCH simpler !

It seems to me that EVERYONE doing a transplant like this has to spend AGES working it out for themselves . . . surely someone who has done it would be happy to share the info to make life easier for anyone else?

1. MASS indicates chassis ground. So give it a good ground on the frame.
2. Yes they tie together.
3. That is a neutral start input for the transmission, if you're manual you shouldn't need to hook it up.

One more, the aristo alternator plug I have has a white red with blue and a yellow. The 87 has yellow, black and white. Is it pretty straight forward yellows together, whites together, and red with blue to the black one?

Where did you ground the harness? Also does the ecu need to be grounded? Where did you mount the ecu? Or did you just leave it in the glove box?
