Might want to open a book there Nick. He was a Marxist before he was imprisoned. When he actually came to power, he was far from it...

Nelson Mandel was permitted to play the race card above all others, with shame. May he rot in hell.

http://cpusa.org/long-live-nelson-mandela/

TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN COMMUNIST PARTY, THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS, THE CONGRESS OF SOUTH AFRICAN TRADE UNIONS AND THE PEOPLE OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICAFROM: THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (CPUSA)

We learned today that Comrade Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, South Africa's and our beloved Madiba, has at last set out on his journey. This news was no less of a blow for having been so long expected. We express our heartfelt condolences to the family, to the SACP and the Tripartite Alliance, to the South African people and to comrade Mandela's millions of friends and admirers worldwide.

Very few of us in the CPUSA can remember a time when Madiba was not in our thoughts. The Freedom Charter, the treason and Rivonia trials, the "Free Mandela" campaign and the joy with which we greeted Mandela's release and his election as South Africa's first democratically elected president, helped shape our consciousness for generations. In our own country, the Free Mandela campaign, as part of the whole solidarity movement against apartheid, helped bring together the civil rights movement, the trades unions, the progressive religious people of all faiths, the minorities and many others. This unity still stands us in good stead, in many other struggles. It helped millions to hone their understanding of the nature of class and racial-ethnic oppression, of capitalism and of empire. For these things, we are eternally grateful.
You clearly have no idea what a lefty says they claim they want justice. Or "revenge" in the words of Obama.

American [religious] rednecks make the socialist left more appealing by comparison. I think America would actually be more "right"" without Bible thumping rednecks ruining that "team" for a large sum of people.
Might want to open a book there Nick. He was a Marxist before he was imprisoned. When he actually came to power, he was far from it...
The only book he needs to read [or is willing to read, so it seems] is the bible. I wouldn't encourage him any more...

Nice strawmen. You get that from Al-Jazeera? Or Rachel Madow? You stand with a thief who bad mouthed the western world and the USA every day after his release from jail. I will accept your nonanswers as acceptance of the fact that he was an asswipe.

Things continue to go the way they're going, we're going to need MORE rednecks.

As far as Mandela is concerned, if you choose to look deeper than mainstream media, it's pretty clear he was not a good guy. I don't care much for Nick or his usual uppity attitude but he is typically spot on with political issues. And he's man enough to stand up to the growing mob of sheep to say it as he sees it.
Thank you Nick, for being an American.

I stand with him? What? I'm not rejoicing in his death. That doesn't mean i completely agree with his life's work, or the principles behind it. I'm not his "comrade". I simply don't feel happy to know he's dead, nor do I wish for the death of other people of a different political philosophy. That would be insane, hateful and further fuels the fires of conflicts.

I think it's important that his past be a little more honestly represented, but i can understand why so many folks are focusing on the positive perception. It's not like he swooped into Pleasantville and dropped an atomic bomb. He didn't come into a good situation. It seems he didn't it in a good state either.

He had associations with shitty leaders, but that doesn't inherently make him evil now does it? The world's not just black and white [Or if you prefer: right and non-right; Christian and non-Christian].

Oh, so you didn't say this.

]American [religious] rednecks make the socialist left more appealing by comparison.
Let me be perfectly clear, if you like your plan, you can keep your plan. He is rubbing off on you. You didn't know anything about him. He bad mouthed the west (liberty and capitalism) daily after being let out of prison. After he took control, he made South Africa just another African cesspool. It is close to being one the worst places on earth. Al-jazeera claiming otherwise doesn't make it so.

Unless you subscribe to Michael Moore and how Venezuela and Cuba are so much better than the USA. Back before socialized medicine was the law.

Nick. You're having a hard time comprehending someone who disagrees with you. Why are you talking about Obama?

Let's try this again.

The socialist left looks more appealing in comparison to ignorant, religious, right-wing nut jobs. The socialist left is still awful, unrealistic (and in my opinion, just plain lazy) but the later is making them look less crazy. Do you understand? I'm saying folks like yourself are insane and make other insane people less special.

Just because I'm not on your religious right wing, agenda-ridden team, doesn't mean I'm a socialist. Grow up. Once again, the world isn't black and white and we're not in 5th grade. You're an adult. Start thinking like one.

I don't know what your article is because I don't subscribe to NYT and can't read the link. If the "hero" is Obama then I don't give a shit anyway.

I'm sorry you didn't understand a comparative reference. Next time I guess I'll avoid using any kind of "advanced" literary tool in my responses to you.

In summary: I'm not spitting on Nelson Mandela's grave. I am also NOT in love with Obama and he's not my hero. Crazy world, huh?

Well, I can't really fault a guy for believing in communism in the early 60's. A lot of folks thought it was a viable option at the time.

And complaining about the USA & western civilization? Well, by the looks of things, we're not doing *much* better than communism did.

I'm not sure what system of government is going to work well, but I'm pretty sure we can rule out communism AND democracy by now. They both have the same problem - they look great on paper, but in practice, there's way too much room for abuse.

The main point about Mandela is that without him, SA would have had a very bloody civil war.

Outside of that, I don't really care about his political views.

Demonstrably false my friend. We (American) are not a free enterprise system. If we were, we would not be failing. This country is moving hard left, and fast.

Holy crap, there are alot more shades of grey then your wanting to see my friend. If your wanting to know what is wrong with most governments, id look far past the type of ideology they follow and look at who is paying the great many political puppets large sums of cash to push forward their horrible agendas.

If you honesty think that liberalism and leftist ideals are causing the down fall of America or western ideals and not say something as blatently obvious as the Federal fucking Reserve and those who run that, your out of your mind.

But thats a different argument completely. Remember, ALL political systems worked on paper at some point, just like the rotary engine.
