We had a very very nice Invader (sp) rail with a 2300 pinto motor header turned upside down... and it was a mean mean RIDE... it would pully a wheelie in 1st 2nd 3rd gear....
Now with that being said.. a 7M weighs way way to much for a rear engine rail... now a mid engine might work.....

I thought the idea behind rails was keep the weight down, the 7m is a beast and its not like you need that much power.

For the fun of it, yea itd be cool if you have a motor laying around and just want it 'because'. In Az people run rails on normal roads alot, be kinda cool to make a streetable 7m rail.

as far as weight goes....rails Can get pretty damn big! A 7mgte wouldn't weigh much for a large 4 seat rail! Yeah rails aren't always small and its all about power to weight ratio and weight displacement....nothing big tires can't fix

Mid engine would be sick with the diff bolted right to the transmission...if a 7m can move 3500 pounds to impressive speeds I couldnt imagine how much fun it would be in a frame 1/3rd the weight

BHG in the dunes followed by RK.......

bad idea Goon ;)

Oh cover your ears 7m....you don't listen to him....LOL

That would suck though

Iwannadie.....paddle tires would fix that....in sand with paddles there isn't such thing as too much wheel spin LOl

Either way I think it would be a neat sight even if there is better ways of going about it....

Thats where a little elbow grease and can do attitude come into play..and a huge damn oil pan LOL.

If all these other engines can do it a 7m is no different then the rest....

Its not something I'm planing on doing but it would be neat....I live in PA so dunes aren't the thing LOL...now putting a 7m in a 1st gen 4runner would be the shit here.

I built this in 2002.. and restored the red convertable in the background in like 2000.. its a 1835 about 125 hp

thats not a rail buggy.....and a 125 hp volks powered rail would NEVER own a 400hp 7m rail.....where the engine sits makes very little difference as to how fast or how it handles if you design the chassis right.....its power to weight ratio my friend.

OMG I never thought I would hear that from you... :biglaugh:
But....I completely agree! :icon_surp

7M would be a terrible choice for a sand rail engine. 1jz, on the other hand, would be awesome, but not so good for power vs. weight.

Pinto motor is a good one. Easily makes 300+ whp with a small turbo.

I'm not stupid or deluded just very very stubborn ;)

The 7M will NOT beat me!

As far as ever using one in anything that actually runs again NOT a chance in hell!
