Offical 2020 Toyota GR Supra Specs, Pricing, and Photos

Very much agreed. I think the crowd of people that are overly enthused about the mk4 (or mk3) care about potential performance, not as is stock. Those people are also very unlikely to buy brand new cars off the showroom floor (myself included). It's a hard crowd to please, but it's definitely...

Offical 2020 Toyota GR Supra Specs, Pricing, and Photos

Sigh. Dammit. I had such high hopes and this all just crushes those hopes. The more I see of this I don't get why you would buy this Supra and not a lightly used M4/5/6. If you're going to have a straight up BMW, you might as well get a beastly motor out of the deal with a better spec'd car...

Offical 2020 Toyota GR Supra Specs, Pricing, and Photos

Agreed. How could they take so long and only update the body, ECU software and infotainment splash screens? I'd love to see a detailed breakdown.

Offical 2020 Toyota GR Supra Specs, Pricing, and Photos

On one hand, I'm so glad it finally happened. On the other.... what exactly did Toyota build on this thing aside from the exterior body panels? The engine and interior look 100% BMW and it lacks the "Supra" feel of a wrap around cockpit. Until I see more "Toyota" parts I'm a little...

    The Kamikaizen Great Unpoochening

Funny read. sounds like an adventure! I'm very near Longmont in case you need anything I can help out with, though it sounds like you're well on your way. Good luck!

    torque plate

Sure thing! I'll likely end up buying one myself!

    torque plate

Captain over on SM ordered 5 this morning. I guess it's the season for torque plates! Not sure what shop he used.

    torque plate

    That's a great price. I'll have a tough time beating/matching that!

Tentative design. Need to determine required overall width and verify precise dimensions, but I think this is about done.

    torque plate

Yeah, aluminum. 6061-T6. I'll ask around at my go-to shops and see what they say. Xometry is usually a little on the high end, so I think my pricing above is pretty safe.

Good call on the dowels. I just drafted everything, but need to go back and add those. Looking at Xometry pricing (probably a little high) so far I think I could make 3-5 and rent them long term for a couple hundred bucks or sell them for ~$700. If we get a group buy going with 5 or more peeps...

    torque plate

For the torque plate, I think the following is all that matters. Can anyone remind me of any other features needed? Head bolt holes, obviously. Cylinder holes, sized to .040" over to accomodate the largest likely bore? Overall size matched to the footprint of the head For thickness, I see a...

    torque plate

This seems like a really cheap piece to make. I have a spare head (two actually if you count the one I cross-sectioned). Wouldn't it be as simple as designing the CAD and waterjetting it out of steel or aluminum? I design titanium parts for waterjet all the time for my side business. Perhaps I...

The hottest 25 collector cars this summer (2018 edition)

Hot damn. That's nuts. That's a really one-off car with those miles, but definitely an indication of rising values of those mk4s. That's a record breaker right there. Very cool.

    New guy.

Welcome! Cool wheels. What are those?

First test drive of the fresh rebuild is going down tomorrow...I have some issues and questions!

Ok, gotcha, thanks. I'm interested in what happens if you remove all correction from the SAFC. Just let the OEM ECU do its thing. It should be very close without any trim - certainly close enough to allow you to safely break in the rings. If it's still pegged lean then something's gone wrong...

First test drive of the fresh rebuild is going down tomorrow...I have some issues and questions!

When you say "lean", what exact ratio are we talking? And how are you measuring it (gauge, sensor and location)? I think you'll be fine if you get it under some load as soon as you start it back up and vary as ^^ said.

    Wheel Fitment & Question Thread

Jay, Take a look at Ken's car in my quote at the top of this page or the last. He's running 9.5 width and 38 offset in that pic. I think it's just about perfect. Your 10.5x30 would stick out about an extra inch beyond that. That's too far for my taste, but I tend to like the old school fitment...

    87 supra starting issue

The real solution is to hunt down the voltage drop root cause by checking voltage along the entire circuit path. After more than a decade with 4 of these cars and over 100k miles driving them I've never seen it be the actual wire. It's normally a connection point somewhere or a faulty relay (in...
