the one that actually goes up flush against the block. the one that has to be machined with the block?

does that have any bolts that holds it to the block? or is it just held on by the pressure fit studs and the studs that it slides onto.

anyone?

It has studs, as well as bolts. It is held in place in ten locations, actually. To be precise, it is held in with seven bolts and three nuts.

See step 14.
Hope this helps.

shit I wonder if these bolts were even on my engine! I don' remember taking them off and they're not in my many many many bags of labeled bolts.

would you like part numbers and prices for your local toyota dealership? ;)

wow, lots of different sizes.
No prices, but if you call with those part numbers, they should be pretty cheap.

I ordered all those from toyota, and I believe 2 of the codes for the bolts came up as discontinued and no longer in production. Go to the hardware store and buy some. I did, fit perfectly. Most bolts on the engine apparently are either m8, m10, or m12 sized.

You'll need bolts 3 through 9 on the lower left diagram. I believe #s 3, 6 and 7 are alignment dowels. In the box next door to the right, it has a rough description and number required.
