Are there any disatvantages to leaving on the stock oil filter piece,or to take it off completely? Does it work off of temp. or something? Just curious

a brief search would yeild the answers you're looking for, however...
the stock oil filter mount directs oil to the oil cooler based on PRESSURE. most will agree that is a flawed system. it should be based on temperature, which is why people put the N/A filter mount on, a filter relocator, and thermostatically controlled oil cooler.
