help my strut towers are rusting away!

heh.. well.. almost... my inner wheel whells are fucking GONE like you can see from the interior of the hatch to the wheels... i felt around inside and the strut tower seems to be pretty solid except wher it gets close to where the metal meets the inner wheel well... my dad is going to bring some sheet metal and a wire feed welder over tomorrow, does anybody have any experience with this? what tools should i use to remove all the infected rust, how can i know i got it all and then how shoul i go about welding it in? is it hard to cut off the entire outer skin of the fender so i can get in there better or should i weld up from the bottom of the wheel well?

You're in for a world of pain, rust in places like that will always come back, and with a vengeance .

May want to consider another shell, unfortunately. Though it is possible to fix it. Just make sure you cut out as much rust as you can see and replace it with fresh metal.
