My heat only blows on max, will not blow on auto or 1 2 3 etc.. Would this be the problem of the relays? If so, where are they located and which replacement relays could i use? do they have to be off a JZA70? (my car is a jza70 RHD etc..) Also another question i have is if a usdm powersteering rack would work with my car. i've been told yes it would and i've also been told no. Just thought i'd verify this, im pretty sure it wouldn't myself but u never know.

I dont know if this is the case though. Its somewhat odd too cause the two middle vents (not the vents by window) will blow cold when i have defrost on. When i have it on the -> setting, all the vents will blow heat. But i can never get it to go on auto 1, 2 or 3. just max. as for the power steering, its not a HUGE problem, i could always change to a manual rack. but, if anyone could shed some light on it, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is is resistor inside the blower motor housing that has a ceramic electric conductive strip on it. They usually crack over time and thus, giving you the ability to only use certin heat ranges, depending on the crack.
My 1jz only works on medium and high. My NA only works on the same, after I replaced it with one with a lesser crack. I need to buy a new one, one day.

Possibly contact Toyota too... They may be able to help since you can import cars legally there!
Matt, Yeah, I just appled constant vac to the to ot the heater valve, so its either cnstant heat, constant cold, or off. Better than none!

It's the blower motor resistor. How do I know? I work at a chevy dealer, and GM has NFI how to make any electronic components, and thus, they leave the blower motor resistor's element exposed inside the blower motor, where there is moisture and they slowly kill all the slow speeds until only high is left.
