my friends dsm somehow blew the iinnards of his cattalitic converter to shit and ended up totally clogging it so no exhaust could pass through. his sympons were an insane loss of hp, exhaust gasses flowing out of oil filler cap and dipstick, and so forth.

i was just wondering, cus a few days ago i was arround a couple rotary's having a rev contest and afterwards the sound of my exhaust just seamed to change tone when i got home. now it sound different but runs fine.

i was just wondering if anyone has ever managed to blow the guts out of a stock cat.

I blew one out once. Check what the exhaust is like coming out of the tail pipe. When cats get clogged they run super hot (can glow in low light conditions) and you'll get superheated air out of the tail pipe. If it's clogged bad it won't even smell like exhaust. Also note that a clogged cat also becomes a fire hazard. :evil5:

just recently experienced this.

My turbo had a "death whine". I was freaked out and hating my supra. I ran it through maryland's emissions 3 times. I just barely failed each time. Finally my friend convinced me to run open downpipe and what did I see? Broken honeycombs laying in my cat. The exhaust pressure was backing up to the turbo at any rpm over 4k.

My symptoms: Turbo "death whine"
RPMs S L O W L Y increased over 4 grand.
Hard to build boost.
Emissions failure - DUH! :kaboom:
