any way the wind blows
When I first learned how to drive stick shift on an early 90s Corolla, what I thought was cool was the shifter boot it had come equipped with. (A rubber one as pictured here: http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/bandm_short_shifter/600px/5.jpg)

My question is, has anyone ever thought about replacing the leather boot with one of these, if it's even possible, seen, attempted, succeeded?

I would love to do this to my own Supra (I think it gives it that 80's feel and looks sweet)

I just took my leather boot off, BINGO!!! cheesy 80s rubber boot underneath! I don't know if my supra is special or what. It is a bit noisier, but that is due to the collector ending right at the shifter location and no mufflers:icon_razz

Those pictured are from a Toyota 4x4 pickup, from anywhere between '88-94. (my '94 has those style boots but are meant to be un-covered, though some came with leather boots over top). It would be pretty easy to make work, in my opinion.

You can see them here on my '94 4x4:

In the picture from the OP you can see that these rubber boots are just an under boot - you can see the center section with the "leather" boot in the top part of the picture.

I don't think this would look good at all and would give your GT a truck look - not what I am going for.

^ Agreed, I was simply posting that my Pickup has those boots stock (not covered by leather boots). To each his/her own. :)
