For the last few days I have been looking for a pinhole or loose clamp or something as I have been getting the faint smell of coolant. Well today it decided to show me! I had just gotten home and the core drenched my right foot with 190 degree coolant!

It would pick a cold day to do this to me, but at least it waited till I got home. Well I have bypassed the core, cleaned up the mess, tended my foot, and ordered a new heater core. Thought I would see if anyone knows if there is something else I should replace or check when I rip the whole dash out next week.

Thanks.

well beside the heater core stuff I can not think of anything else behind the dash.

I would also inspect the heater hoses in the engine bay. Make sure they are good.

Ouch that sucks..How many miles are on the body? I just want to know when it would be a good time for this to happen to me as I have also gotten a faint smell of coolant every now and then.

Hmm...Im way over that. You sure its the core and not the lines?

The cores bottom dr side seam is cracked from what I can see. The radiator, all the hoses, and heater valve were all worn/crusty/broken when I got the car. It just lasted a few years more.
