Whats the best bang for the buck Alternator Upgrade? I'm not gonna be running any killer stereo, disco lights etc. I want a nice 100+ amp Alt. & have planed on getting a new 3SGTE one but I'm finding 130 & 160amp ones on ebay for ~$100 or so. I want brighter crisper lights all around w/o any voltage drop that I now see with the stock ALT. I already have done the Head,Fog, & Parking light wiring upgrade with relays but I'm getting voltage drop when all my lights are on. I still plan on upgrading the stock Grnd wires & adding a few more & thought I would upgrade the ALT also. Any one have suggestions &/or feed back on the Alt below? Oh the $500.00 Stinger is not in budget & bit overkill for my needs

wanting and needing or two different things.

More amerage means more power to turn the alternator to produce the energy. Nothing is free.

Brighter lights, upgrade wiring to and from the battery to the lights and perhaps to the more critical junction block. A higher amp rated alt will do nothing if the bottle neck is in the electrical junction block.

Yea I did just that. Upgraded the stock wiring, used 30 amp relays & inline fuses. Did so to run higher wattage headlights & fogs. Lights have been nice & bright but I do notice voltage drop at idle when there all on. I monitor the voltage using a BlitZ FATT Turbo Timer. With lights off at idle reads 14.1 all light on drops to 11.8-12.1. I have ran the lights wired like this for several years. Had a stock Alt. crap out almost 2yrs ago & replaced with a new one. Still the same voltage drop. Obviously this isn't a big deal but if a $120.00 160amp Alt. completely fix the issue I'm all for it.

No you don't understand.

All the electricals are measured from the junction block which happens to be 16-18 gauge wiring. Save Toyota makes it into a very nice and easy replaceable package.
