Hello everyone,

my name is Eric, i used to own a 1989 Turbo which you can see below. That was back in 2005. I am actually shopping around for another MK3, i do miss that car a lot. I used to post on this board then as well, but can't even find my user name in the members list, which lead me to making a new one.

hopefully, when i pick up another MK3, i'll get to meet some of you at a local meet up here in Northern Cali.

i found one that really do like, but car fax said there was 20 records! so i'm am actually trying to find someone on this forum and others that can email me a copy of the report. can anyone help me out with this?

i know the 20 records doesn't mean all of which are bad, but 20 seems high to me, so i'm just curious as to what the guy may be hiding.

Thats AWESOME. I actually bought my old one back too. But the guy I sold mine to fixed all of the problems it had. Then I bought it back for 1200, and I sold it for 1600. HA HA HA. What r your plans?

it's not identical, it's the EXACT ONE, same license plate and all haha...

when i sold it to him i sold it for $500, had BHG and found a crack in the block (purple dye). He threw a used block on there, stock head gasket torqued to 90 ft lbs. on stock bolts. He also put a the second cat on there (it's gutted tho), when i had it the bolts from downpipe to cat broke when driving haha, i am assuming rust. he also put some interior back in there (rear panels, rear seats, door panels, center console) it will all come out once again tho =P he even replaced the targa, he said mine was leaking.

now the problems it had when i bought it was Crazy oil leak, 2 qts gone within driving distance of 10 miles. Starting Issues. TPS code, and O2 Sensor code, couldn't pass smog. and a stalling issue.

so far fixed the leak, the cause was a COPPER CRUSH WASHER, that went between the block and the hose itself. the location was on the turbo side, under the turbo, and located in front of the oil filter and behind the oil sending unit.

the starting issue is a battery and/or a starter, got the part, just need to do.

the TPS code, well when i get it to start i'll check the adjustment on the TPS (code 51)

the 02 sensor code could be my fault, i through some fuel system cleaner in the tank and the code came on after driving afterwards, have to run the whole tank then erase the code go from there.

the smog, well ran it at work, passed the 15mph, but failed the 25mph. Hydrocarbons, and Nox only. i am going to change the plugs to hopefully fix the hydrocarbons, the Nox, well it was borderline, gonna go through some vaccum lines, and what not. also this is with just the one cat on the downpipe, secondary was gutted by previous.

..thats all i can think of right now, future plans still being planned. i would love 500hp, but may just settle for 350-400hp, but a well built motor to have more reliable power.

yeah, i plan on keeping the car for a lot longer this time. haha and if for some reason, knock on wood, the car gets into a fender bender and it's unrepairable, everything will be swapping over into a MX83 Cressida =)
