the repair manual say the spec on the rebuilding head section

1. cam bolt specs are 14 lbs

2. the arps should have come with a torque sheet i know mine dont have that but 80lbs is good

did you machine both the head and the block? cuz it sounds like you left the block in the car?

Cam cap 14 ft-lbs in several passes. There is a sequence, make sure you have it.

Now fro the arp toque spec, you have to follow "ARP" directions on how many ft-lbs to torque it down, if you use their grease or oil it depends. Oil is more torque, and the grease is less, read the directions..

Why are you attempting this without the repair manual in the first place?

Current torque spec for ARP studs is 80 ft/lbs using moly for lube...I highly suggest you chase the threads in the block prior to installing studs.

As stated, both the cam caps and head bolts have a specific torque sequence pattern...you must follow it or there will be a problem. There are a few other "gotchas" as well...this is must reading (Engine Mechanical):

If your repair manual is a Haynes, close it immediately and use the above link to the TSRM.
BTW - there are a couple places RTV is required for the front timing plate and cam covers...if not, you will have a oil leak.

Required to chase the threads in the block or the studs won't go all the way in...

Yeah, I tossed my Haynes on a shelf and haven't touched it since I read to tighten the cam cover bolts "until tight." TSRM has torque specs for literally every fastener...

I would just get all you information from the TSRM. For one it's better then the manual you have, and it's easier to find everything because it has the nice sub categories.

Just make sure when you take off these cam caps, or put them on you knwo which way the arrows are pointing, Make sure you also keep them in order or know the numbers in order, and not to mix the intake, with exhaust caps.

Good luck.
