so here it goes, i blew my stock twins and didnt want to swap it out to another set so i decided to go single. i puller out the engine and transmission to change all seals and gaskets as well. along with this, i did a new clutch and arp head studs. the manifold im running is the driftmotion manifold and the xs power 46mm wastegate. the turbo is a masterpower t70. i bought a 3'' v-band downpipe.

i put on the manifold, turbo, and wastegate and my problems start with the v-band downpipe. i do to attatch it to the rear of the turbo and it turns out the downpipe and the wastegate are hitting, causing it to be short about 3'' for the trubo. i will be running open wastegate so would it be a problem to face to open protion towards the manifold? also, if my downpipe does not clear the wastegate, then what should i do? i do not want to downgrade the wastegate at all. any input would be very helpful. thanks in advanced:1zhelp:

Can you post up some pics? Are you asking if it is okay to have your wastegate dump like right back onto your exhaust manifold? I had my wastegate dump back down onto the downpipe/firewall area for a couple weeks while I found a dump tube and had the fitting welded and I didn't have a problem. But I wouldn't feel comfortable about it dumping back onto the exhaust manifold and turbo region as there is a lot of other stuff there (wiring and such)

i can get some pictures up tomorrow. the only other way the wastegate can fit is if the dumtube section is point up. i do not want to do that but will have to if i have no choice. the only wiriing there would be wires for the o2 sensor. my wastegate is in the way of my downpipe connection to my turbo.

should i have the downpipe cut from where the v-band was attatched and jus extend it to fit the turbo? are there any sort of double sided v-band extensions?

I would modify the manifold and wastegate before messing with the DP. moving the DP further back would probably place it way too close to your firewall, and likely touch your speedometer cable causing it to melt and break.

hmmmm. i would hate having to modify to take the manifold out. it did take me about 45 minutes to put it on because of the bolts towards the bottom of the manifold

Haha, I feel your pain. But you'll be much better at it if you're forced to do it again! In the end modifying the wastegate placement will be much better, and everything will be done right, instead of extending the DP to make up for bad wastegate placement and having to worry about melting stuff. It might be as simple as having the flange cut and rotated so I really think it would be worth it. We really would have to see pics to know for sure what is going on so I guess I'll have more input for you tomorrow!

ok guys, here are the pictures. i do have another problem now. the external diamter of the v-band is actually smaller then the external diamtere of the turbo housing. its about 3.5" on the turbo side and about 3" on the v-band. so, jus cut the v-band and have new one with 3.5" welded on? heres the pics of the v-band next to the turbo and also the downpipe touching the wastegate.

looks like you could cut the wastegate flange back about 1" that would give you room

happy late diwali man.

for the wastegate, it was installed wrong. i put it on correctly and everything mounted like a charm. i started the engine yesterday wit open pipe and that sucker is loud. now i have another problem, i cant rev past 3500. everything was fine when i used to have the tt setup. no check engine lights on at all. i did disconnect the tps, and it was the same so im thinking somehing with the tps? maybe wiring?
