this use to happen every once and a while and then it stopped happening im pretty sure when i started using shell gas

but now it happens every so often again

im just kind of wondering whats going on or how to diagnose the problem

it only happens when im driving and have my foot on the gas pedal just enough to keep me from slowing down, to maintain a speed

i only have a apexi intake and 3in exhaust turbo back

my car is running fine other then that, pulls hard and all

my friend said it may be the fuel filter, what do you guys think?

What does the exhaust sound like when it is doing this? If you hear a change in the exhaust it could be a leak.

Any codes?

i haven't checked for any codes yet

but i haven't noticed any changed in the exhaust sound, my exhaust isn't loud either its the hks dragger but i'lll look into that

what kind of leak are you talking about?

i'll look into checking the codes tomorrow or something its kind of cold and dark out right now

but as far as i know that is the original tps since the car was purchased by my parents back in 89

so the wiring shouldn't be bad but the tps may need to be ajusted or i might need a new one or something

but i'll check it out this week as soon as i can

TPS developes a flat spot at that point usually requiring replacement

ohhh

well when you replace the tps is it just plug and play or would it need some sort of adjustments made to it?

An exhaust leak can cause the engone to chug when holding at certain rpm ranges, or when slowing down, usually at the same rpm range as when trying to hold it. Also from what I understand it can happen w/too open of an exhaust, where exhaust scavenging or back pressure has been reduced too much. I have something similar w/my mod'd 3.0 V6 in one of my 4x's. The problem arose after adding headers and a free flowing exhaust. I checked for exhaust leaks and couldn't find any, so it appears to be from the open style exhaust. For me the problem only occurs while holding the engine speed around 3200 rpms under load, or on slow downs.

Can you reproduce the problem while sitting still?

if it happen at idle would this cause the check engine light to come on for like 3 seconds and then go off when it idles fine

this is if it happens while not moving and just at idle

i have this same issue, kinda, mine happens around 1500 rpms, and on the wideband it just goes lean 21:1, so I have a flat spot somewhere. I don't know if it did it before with the old maf, but I went to a lex maf. Might be the issue there.
