Now that fall has begun it is time for some new tires. With Goodyear HP’s on the front and nearly bald Eagle GT’s on the rear I was hanging out the back in the wet far too easily. My Supra is a daily driver/freeway queen so I was looking for high performance all season tires with a focus on wet traction and hydroplane resistance.

After much researching it came down to two choices;
Goodyear F1 All Seasons

Yokohama Advan S.4.

I cruised down to the local Americas Tire (aka Discount Tire) to see what kind of deal I could get since discounttire.com and discounttiredirect.com had different prices. If you order through discount direct they ship them free to a location for installation, or pay the higher in store price. Surprisingly they matched the online price without even a bother.
A little research pays.

A $50 rebate from Goodyear swung me to the F1 A/S. I also liked the aggressive tread of the F1’s over the Yoko’s as well as the fact that there is Kevlar in them. C’mon who doesn’t like Kevlar? :biglaugh:

Props go to the guys at Americas Tire for actually setting the torque properly on the nuts, afterwards I went to retorque and they were set as I specified… 76 ft/lbs.

I can’t give a full account of the performance since I have yet to see much for weather in the last few days. So far I have driven about 500 miles on them with no complaint. Road noise is a little higher than the previous tires but is still minimal. Dry cornering feels quite stable, and they soak up expansion joints nicely. High speed on new blacktop felt great! I will follow up on how they do in the wet as soon as we get some good rainfall.
