Timing

I adjusted my cam gears as they were off a tad and I tried to start my 7mgte and it wouldnt start! I got it to stumble a bit when i moved the cps around but that's it... I remember seeing a picture somewhere on this forum that shows a cps with the cover off because I am not able to advance timing at at i can retard it like 20 degrees but i can only get it to about 2 degrees advanced. Can somebody kindly direct me to that picture of the cps with the cover off and the red drawings on it?

Stock cams? If so, set the engine to TDC, look and make sure the 0 marks on the cam gears line up with the cover(they should be straight up) and make sure the cps is properly aligned too. If it idles, check timing with a timing light.
