As long as you only want to drive on sunday, less then 1000 miles a year, ect.....ok, other then that, whats the point to drawing more attention to your car? And if the cop wants to be a prick he can because you broke the law unless you follow ALL the rules.

i like to drive my car heh so i dont know many who haven them registered as one.

I wonder in the future though since there such a cult following for these cars will we have an abundance of restoration parts like the old Datsun Z guys do.

Here in Iceland every car over 25 years of age is considered classic, then you don´t have to pay any fess and the insurance be comes next to nothing, and you can drive it as you like.

That´s why I´m in no hurry to get my ´87 running, I just waiting for it to become a classic. :naughty:

Hobbiest? I've never heard of that. Do you have nay details besides you have to have another car registered? It sounds interesting altough I don't think we have it here.

I have veteran plates on mine. You don't pay reg fees. Or for the plate. Insurance is slightly cheaper.

Under my states rules I wouldn't get antique plates for the reasons previously stated. They only allow you to drive a limited amount....and by limited I mean LIMITED. That to me is not worth the benifit of no more emissions or inspections.

I think we are screwed regastration wise here in ca, but I can register it as a classic with the insurance company after 20 years, premium goes down and coverage goes way up.

As the owner of a first generation Z (S30) it is much easier to get parts for my Z than it is to get parts for the Supra. I'm not sure if the Supra will ever attain the status of the Z simply because the Z was such a landmark car. Just my opinion though.
