I am going to need to install a block heater on my 1JZ-GTE.

Since a plethora of parts from the 2JZ-GTE can be retro-fitted onto the 1JZ, I simply assume the 2JZ block heater from Toyota will fit my 1JZ. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, I searched this forum and google feverishly, but could not find the answer I was looking for.

Ok, I'll make an attempt and tell you guys whether it fits.

I hope it does, or at least the frost plug can be reused it the block heater fails to fit.

You do not want to reuse a freeze plug...they are a press fit. Once removed, the oversize of the plug that makes a press fit work is gone. Blowing a freeze plug is bad...all your coolant is gone in seconds.

Oh. So your saying that if the 2JZ frost plug isn't the exact size, I've basically just ruined my 1JZ. That's awesome.

I certainly hope it fits.

Good news, I found this.

Part number C0140-03400-S2, from Toyota Canada. According to the above thread, this block heater will fit the 1JZ-GTE.

I'm going to phone Toyota on Monday and find out if that block heater is the one I purchased (I simply asked for a 2JZ block heater from Napa, so the part numbers do not match).
