ok i have an 87 turbo and i was wondering if there is any way for me to tell what kind of rearend i have, do they all come lsd in the turbos? is there a specific size designation? how can i tell what size mine is, i believe its lsd, it behaves like one?

The specific gear ratio should be a 3:90. To find out if it is LSD or not just look an the back of the pumpkin. There is a decal by the fill plug that states LSD. If it isnt there you have an open diff.

better for what? for strictly drag racing the lowest gearing (highest numerically) is usually best, but you sacrifice top speed and highway fuel mileage.

I have 4.10's in my mk2 and while its great for around town I dont like that Im turning more RPM at freeway speed than I would with the 3.73's, especially with fuel prices the way they are.

Unless you are doing strict racing the NA is the worst. Its ratio just eats away any mileage you may have wanted. If I had the choice I would go with the 3:90 rear end. It would be the best all around ratio.
