Get those stupid shims off if you've got a manual boost controller!

It's only going to stress the wastegate that much more...

And if shimming your wastegate AND setting a MBC didn't up the boost any, you've got a boost leak (check your lower IC pipe as well), or you simply need to find another wastegate.

Johnathan: When you say 4 "shims"...are you referring to "4mm"?
If so, You should be at a little bit more than 8psi...maybe not TOO much more, but I'd think 8psi is a bit low for 4mm shims.

And back to you, onefst:

Just because your intercooler pipes are connected doesn't mean you don't have a boost leak. Check your couplers for any tears of any sort...or if you REALLY want to investigate, go build yourself a $5 boost leak tester.

If you have the stock downpipe with the cat in it I would bet that is a major part of the problem. Definately check for boost leaks too. But get a bigger exhaust before you shim or get a boost controller, because that is going to make alot of heat that is not good for rubber parts under the hood.
